E-SCOOTERS/E-BIKES

E-scooters and E-bikes - the law 🛴

Privately owned e-scooters and e-bikes are illegal to use on public roads, pavements, parks or shopping centres. They can only be used on private land with landowners permission.

Rental e-scooters are allowed in trial areas - but only if:
✅ You have a valid driving license
✅ You follow road traffic laws
✅ You wear safety gear (helmet recommended)

If you break the rules, you could face:
‼️ £300 fine + 6 months for no insurance
‼️ £100 fine + points for no licence
‼️ £50 fine for riding on pavements
‼️ £200 fine for using a phone while riding

⚠️ REMINDER: Many e-scooters and e-bikes are being illegally modified, and if you're caught using one, it could be seized and you could face prosecution.

Our safer streets team are working hard to target any e-scooters that are being ridden illegally 👮
